I own a 2018 Dodge Power Wagon and am not happy with the factory lockers. They are slow to engage (once you’re stuck, it’s too late to engage them) and sometimes they don’t want to disengage when trying to unlock them. I’m considering adding Air Lockers, but I noticed there are several wires entering the differentials. What are they for, and if they are disconnected will there be any electrical or ECM issues? The lockers in your Power Wagon are controlled by electromagnets in the differentials. When given 12 volts, the electromagnet engages a set of pins to lock the differential. There is some motion required for the pins to engage their respective holes, so it can take a few seconds for everything to line up properly and engage. In most cases these lockers work pretty well, so we’re wondering if perhaps the issues you are experiencing are due to how and when you’re engaging the lockers. It’s best to be stopped or moving very slowly at idle while the lockers are engaging. Don’t wait until you’re stuck and have given the truck some throttle in attempts to get unstuck to engage the lockers. Once you see that the terrain is gett...
