FSL Muse Hobby Laser Cutter/Engraver: Review the Specs

Never heard of the FSL Muse? Even if Full Spectrum Laser is a lesser-known brand compared to upstarts like Glowforge, it’s worth to take a look at its specs. The company Full Spectrum Laser (FSL) produces several types of fabrication equipment including 3D printers and laser engravers, all ranging from the hobby to professional level. And the FSL Muse is another contender in the hobby laser market, a machine packing a 40W laser and a water-cooled CO2 laser, with an external cooling unit included. This happens to be Full Spectrum Laser’s most entry-level product at $5000, packing just enough to satisfy a hobby user. Let’s break it down in this spec breakdown. The 40W laser with a resolution of 1000 dpi is standard for hobby-grade machines like this one – it’s claimed by the manufacturer to be capable of cutting and engraving quarter-inch wood or acrylic, and leather, among others. And if you’ve got a more advanced use case, you can even engrave steel or glass with this laser. All in all, it’s a pretty standard package at this price point – nothing new here. Touch controls are a reasonable expectation for $5000, and the Muse has got it. In addition, you can rest assured that you w...

Interest surrounding the expected Chevy Colorado refresh continues to rise. In the past quarter, GM Authority has seen a significant influx of messages to the editor inquiring about the forthcoming facelift. Here’s what we’re hopeful for in the update. The exterior of the Colorado midsize pickup is the one area that probably needs the least amount of updates – since the design continues to be attractive and modern. Even so, we will probably get new front and rear ends, along with LED headlamps and taillamps, both of which are offered on the Colorado’s newest competitor – the 2019 Ford Ranger. Two other, nice-to-have options would be rain-sensing windshield wipers and a windshield wiper de-icer feature. Both are offered on the new Ford Ranger. The one area that the Chevy Colorado refresh needs to address is the interior, as the current truck is missing various modern comfort or convenience features t...

In this design, the intercom and battery pack are separate modules. Stick ’em on your helmet, install the (outstanding) speakers and you’re ready to rock. The Sena 10R uses the new Sena handlebar remote control as the main controller for all the features. Sena is experimenting with packaging; for now, the 10R is available as a single kit only with or without the remote. The handlebar and wrist remote we described in the Sena 10U (review) works with any of the new Sena 10 series intercoms (not the SMH10 series), so if  you have one (or both), you can control the 10R, 10U and 10S. Before we get into the details of the 10R, there’s one huge feature here that should make many owners happy: a replaceable battery. webBikeWorlders have been asking for that for years and now you have it. Buy an extra battery, keep it charged and it slides right into the battery holder. Frankly, the “problem” of a non-replaceable batteries isn’t really, but in any case, the 10R replaceable battery is the solution. The 10R also includes the latest Bluetooth 4.1 and new noise reduction technologies that really do seem to work. Sound and voice quality on the 10R is outstanding and new technology has been a...

NFL Capsules: Dolphins stun Patriots, hand Chiefs a bye in AFC playoffs

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Miami dropped defending Super Bowl champion New England into the wild-card playoff round when Ryan Fitzpatrick tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Mike Gesicki with 24 seconds remaining for a stunning 27-24 victory Sunday. New England (12-4) will have to play in the opening weekend of the postseason for the first time since 2009. The Patriots never have made the Super Bowl while playing in the wild-card round. The Patriots won their first eight games, the split the next eight, including the rarity of two losses at home. It is the second straight season the Dolphins have denied the Patriots an unbeaten division record. They scored on a wild series of laterals on the final play in their second meeting last season, in Miami. After trailing throughout the game, Tom Brady threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to James White to put New England in front 24-20 with 3:53 left. But Fitzpatrick, who finished 28-of-41 for 320 yards and a touchdown, was unflappable, leading Miami on a 13-play, 75-yard drive that included him recovering a fumbled snap, and completing a 24-yard pass to DeVante Parker for Miami (5-11). dnata, Toll Group join new Australian airport freight precinct project

Ground handler dnata and logistics company Toll Group have signed a partnership to collaborate with Western Sydney Airport (SWZ) on the design of the freight precinct at the new Western Sydney International Airport; they join 10 other freight industry stakeholders already involved in the project. While Australian airports currently transport more than 1 million tonnes of air cargo annually, this number is forecasted to grow considerably over the next decade, according to a press release from SWZ. Upon the completion of its first stage of development and opening in 2026, Western Sydney International Airport will have the capacity to process approximately 220,000 tonnes of air cargo each year through its proposed fit-for-purpose, on-airport cargo facility that will include multiple dedicated cargo aircraft stands. This freight precinct is then planned to scale up with demand, and could see 1.8 million tonnes of air cargo in throughput per annum in the future. With this projected capacity, Western Sydney International’s “freight precinct has the potential to become Sydney’s most important freight hub, generating thousands of jobs,” said Western Sydney Airport Chief Executive Office...

How Does Dense Reader Mode Work, and How Do RFID Systems Reduce Tag Collision? — Ask The Experts Forum

I have been confused about RFID dense reader mode and am unable to find the information I seek. In dense reader mode, readers hop between channels to avoid collisions at the tag side. The tags see query messages from the readers that are separated by channels, but passive RFID tags utilize an ASK demodulator, which consists of an envelope detector and a comparator. Such a receiver front-end at the tag side isn’t capable of differentiating different channels (frequencies), which means even the channels are separated and collisions still exist. Am I correct about the above? I am not an RF engineer, so I am not capable of providing a highly technical explanation of dense reader mode. But I will try to explain how it works. Readers transmit within different channels inside the frequency band allotted for RFID readers (902 MHz to 928 MHz in the United States). In the U.S., there are 50 channels in this band. In the European band, which is smaller, there are 10 channels. In dense reader mode, a reader listens to the channel it plans to use before emitting a signal. If it hears another reader using that channel, it switches to another one. This prevents readers from interfering ...
