Hyundai Elantra facelift launched in India; New Elantra price starts at Rs 15.89 lakh

Refreshed executive sedan comes with updated styling and more equipment; available with a sole BS6-compliant 2.0-litre petrol engine. The current-gen Hyundai Elantra has been on sale since August 2016 and newer competitors like the new-gen Honda Civic and the Skoda Octavia facelift and have made it feel a little long-in-the-tooth. Hyundai hopes to address this with the launch of a mid-cycle facelift of the model, which is priced from Rs 15.89 lakh. The biggest talking point on the facelift is the discontinuation of the 128hp, 1.6-litre diesel engine. The Elantra will now be available with a solitary 152hp/192Nm, 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic, both of which have been carried forward from its predecessor. However, the engine has now been upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms and, surprisingly, that has not resulted in a drop in fuel-efficiency – both, the petrol-manual and petrol-automatic have an ARAI mileage of 14.6kpl. Coming to the most notable changes, the updated Elantra gets the brand’s signature ‘cascading grille’, which brings it in-line with Hyundai new family look, along with reshaped headlamps with...

Jason Aldean’s ‘We Back’ Video Gives Fans Thrilling 360 Live View

Jason Aldean serves up his live show hot in the energetic new video for his current single, “We Back,” and he does it in a way that fans haven’t quite seen before. Aldean enlisted noted Nashville director Shaun Silva for the new “We Back” video, which dropped on Thursday morning (Oct. 10). Silva captures the energy of Aldean’s celebrated live performances with some extremely unusual shots that he achieved by utilizing eight 360-degree cameras with custom fabricated mounts attached to Aldean’s microphone, his band’s instruments and a beer can that’s tossed to Aldean at the end of the performance. “We’ve put out music videos in the past from our tours, but Silva put a really cool spin on this one,” Aldean says in a press release. “Fans are going to feel like they are on stage with us, which is something I’ve never really seen pulled off like this before.” The rockin’ live anthem is a perfect fit for the energy of Aldean’s massive arena shows. “We Back” is the lead single from the superstar’s upcoming ninth studio album, 9, which is set for release on Nov. 22 via Broken Bow Records. 9 is currently ...

Profoto revamps its A1 flash to craft a new A1X sibling

Profoto shook the lighting world last year with the launch of its powerful but pricey A1 ‘studio flash’ flashgun, and it’s now updated that model to deliver a more powerful A1X companion. Physically, the A1X appears to be designed along the same lines as the A1, with the same round flash head and a large display on its rear, although it arrives with an updated feel and finish. More significantly, the company has upgraded much of the innards to make it more powerful and flexible than the existing model. The recycling time is slightly shorter than the A1′s, now down to just a second compared to the A1′s 1.2 seconds, while the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery offers 450 full-power flashes per charge – 100 more than the A1. Even so, it can still be recharged just as quickly, in around 80 minutes. The A1X is also compatible with many of Sony’s most recent mirrorless and SLT cameras, including the Sony A7 III and Sony A9, in addition to the Canon and Nikon DSLRs and mirrorless bodies that work with the original A1. The user is also now able to choose one of 20 wireless channels, versus the eight available on the A1. A4 Hardcover Book Like ...

This Is How I Became a Man Who Wears Brooches This Is How I Became a Man Who Wears Brooches

I’ve heard them called pins, pendants, even baubles. But generally I go with the term “brooches.” There was a time when I would have thought wearing them was the epitome of being a fussy, over-accessorized queen. But now, I think of it as a little bit of joy that I display nearly every day. This began several years ago with my husband Justin. Ever on the lookout for the perfect gift, he had noted me mentioning a desire to learn how to properly tie a bow tie. Thus, come that holiday season, he presented me two lovely packages. Each contained a matched set of a patterned bow tie, colorful shoelaces and complementary pins. Much to his surprise it was the pins – little felt flowers meant to adorn a lapel – that really got me excited. I pictured myself sporting them like mid-series Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City. I was eager to debut my flowers. At first I saved them for actual lapels, but it seemed a sad waste not to incorporate them into my daily attire. So occasionally, I would affix one to the corner of my breast pocket (or approximately there on shirts without such a pocket). This practice became even more common after the next holiday season, when Justin presented me a fol...

In Japan, kei cars reign supreme. In fact, this government-regulated segment made up around a third

In Japan, kei cars reign supreme. In fact, this government-regulated segment made up around a third of all new-car sales there last year, as people switch from larger vehicles to smaller, more cost-effective ones. The bestselling kei car? You’re looking at it: the brilliantly named Honda N-BOX. Kei-car regulations stipulate that no model can exceed 133.85 inches in length, 58.26 inches in width, or 78.74 inches in height, and they must be powered by engines that displace 660cc. Maximum output is 64 horsepower. Beyond their obvious aesthetic, kei cars are further distinguished by special yellow license plates (conventional cars in Japan have white ones). As long as the cars fall within these guidelines, the sky is the limit to what a manufacturer can produce, although boxes are particularly popular as a way to maximize the cars’ small footprints. The model you see here is actually the Honda N-BOX Slash, a sort of sloping roof variant of the N-BOX intended to attract younger buyers who might prefer its funkier design. It comes in a range of bright colors and offers several unique wheel choices, but it still holds very much true to its name. It’s literally a box o...
