‘The Lost Boys’ Picks Up Options On 2 Actors For New Pilot, ‘Glamorous’ Not Going Forward At the CW

EXCLUSIVE: The CW in May opted not to pick up pilot The Lost Boys to series but authorized a retooling, including recastings. As part of that, producing studio Warner Bros. TV  has released the entire cast of the pilot with the exception of Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro whose options have been extended. The duo will co-star in the new, reworked pilot, which will likely film by the end of the year. Meanwhile, pilot Glamorous starring Ben J. Pierce, which was not picked up in early May with the rest of the CW new series but was left in serious contention for a series order, is now dead. Launching a series adaptation of the iconic 1987 Warner Bros horror comedy movie The Lost Boys had been high in the priority list for the CW brass. The network first tapped Rob Thomas to conceive and write a Lost Boys series during the 2016-17 development season. While the project didn’t go to pilot, the CW execs remained very high on the title and had been looking to redevelop it. While Thomas has been busy with his Veronica Mars reboot for Hulu, a take by writer Heather Mitchell got the network’s attention and a pilot order this past season. But while I hear the CW brass loved the script, no...

Publisher – Motocross Action Magazine is the worlds leading publication about motocross and supercross. Husqvarna has only been in the limited-edition business since the 2018-1/2 Husky FC450 Rockstar Edition. This is a special bike that is built to take advantage of a hole in the AMA rulebook that you could drive a cement truck through, especially with Roger DeCoster behind the wheel. No rider on any of the competing teams was allowed to race 2019 models in the 2018 Supercross series like the Husky and KTM riders were. Why not? The AMA rules state that no one can race a bike that isn’t sold to the public. And under the rule, there must be at least 400 bikes available for sale to the public. Husqvarna produced over 400 Rockstar Editions before the start of last year’s and this year’s AMA seasons. By taking advantage of the AMA homologation rule, Jason Anderson got to ride next year’s bike to the 2018 AMA Supercross Championship, while Roczen, Tomac, Barcia, Peick or anyone not on a KTM Factory Edition or a Husky Rockstar Edition were on their old bikes. Where the AMA homologation rule goes wrong is that the AMA does not demand that the 400 bikes be available to the public b...

Huawei in Mexico Could Be Base for Next Trump Tariff Threat

Jun. 10 2019 — Trade relations between the U.S. and Mexico have been improving following the resolution of a migration-related tariff spat and progress toward passing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, as outlined in Panjiva’s research of Jun. 8. Yet, the next point of conflict is emerging as the Mexican government prepares to authorize the roll-out of so-called 5G telecoms networks. The Financial Times reports that Mexico, alongside Brazil and Argentina, will continue to consider Chinese telecoms equipment provider Huawei despite U.S.  resistance. Given the U.S. government’s public stance against Huawei it’s not difficult to imagine the Trump administration repeating its tariff-based approach to migration being repeated with regards to telecoms policy. Huawei may be rushing exports into Mexico to preempt a change in policy. Panjiva data shows that Huawei’s exports to Mexico reached a record in April after climbing 72.6% year over year to reach a total $1.53 billion over the 12 months to Apr. 30. The growth so far has related to phones rather than network equipment however. Imports of phones were equivalent to 57.2% of the total in the past 12 months and expanded by 84.8% year o...

Perspective Interpretation of the news based on evidence, including data, as well as anticipating how events

Perspective Interpretation of the news based on evidence, including data, as well as anticipating how events might unfold based on past events Safety is an essential component of summer fun, which is why we wear bike helmets and reapply sunscreen. But keeping food safe when eating outdoors is a preventive measure that is often overlooked: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in 6 Americans is sickened by foodborne pathogens each year, with summer being peak season for the problem. It’s a double-whammy of risk: Bacteria thrive in the warmer weather, and it’s challenging to follow good food-safety habits when you are out and about. Fortunately, there are some new products on the market to help you stay safe this summer, and do it stylishly, too. Keeping perishable food chilled is a must any time of year, but it is especially critical in the summer because bacteria grow fastest just when you most want to head out to the beach or pool — at temperatures between 90 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit. When the weather is that steamy, food should not be left out for more than an hour; on cooler days, two hours is the limit. If you are driving, you can (and should) pac...

Decades of disrepair: East Campus woes date back to building’s construction

After the construction of East Campus, Charles Gwathmey, the project’s chief architect, called it “the worst-constructed building we’ve ever seen come out of our office.” In just the first month of the semester, residents in East Campus have been plagued by a slew of facilities issues, including mold infestations, erroneous fire alarms, and a lack of usable stoves. As it turns out, however, EC’s recent problems are not a novel phenomenon. Today’s issues in East Campus parallel hundreds of reports of poor standards of living from when the building was first erected. After its construction in 1979, Charles Gwathmey, the architect whose firm built East Campus, called it “the worst-constructed building we’ve ever seen come out of our office,” and for good reason. Before and since Spectator’s 1983 exposé “East Campus: The dream dorm in decay,” students have complained about the administration’s apparent lethargy towards fixing EC’s original structural problems: piping, leakage, and electrical issues. Despite the similarities between EC past and current problems, a Facilities spokesperson denied that EC’s current woes are caused by the same issues as those in the past, eve...

Green Power on the Chesapeake — Chesapeake Bay Magazine

Cruising the Chesapeake and its many tributaries is one of life’s great pastimes. Whatever motivates us to seek out a quiet harbor will also require us to evaluate the DC power system on our boat. Stored energy in our batteries can only support our equipment and creature comforts for so long before they need recharging, which requires us to start a generator to power the battery charger, or run the main engine for the alternator to do its work. But, there are other choices. An alternative green energy system can reduce the recharging times required and even extend the life of our batteries.  Hydro-generators can be very efficient for sailors on long passages. These involve trailing a propeller through the water attached to a generator, which produces electrical power while sailing.  However due to the very high initial cost, a Bay cruiser (even one that makes an occasional Bermuda, or coastal trip) would be hard-pressed to justify the payback. These devices only work when underway. So, in our serene anchor-out example, they are of no benefit. Wind generators are wind turbines mounted on poles high enough that you should not be able to reach up and touch the blades. As the wind v...
